2024 NATIONAL PHILANTHROPY DAY AWARDS NOMINATIONS

Outstanding Philanthropic Organization
This award honors a civic organization, corporate or private foundation, grant-making service organization, donor circle, or affinity group that demonstrates outstanding philanthropic commitment to the nonprofit organization(s) or larger community it supports. This organization should be a role model of philanthropic activity serving many segments of the community.

Outstanding Business in Philanthropy  
This award honors a business — regardless of size — that demonstrates outstanding community commitment through philanthropic support and the encouragement and motivation of others, both inside and outside of the corporation, to take leadership roles in philanthropic and community involvement.  Please note: businesses with corporate-funded foundations must apply through the Outstanding Philanthropic Organization nomination process.

Outstanding Emerging Philanthropist

This award recognizes an individual (age 22-40), group, or organization where a majority of members and/or leaders are between ages of 22 and 40, for exceptional generosity and civic responsibility by demonstrating significant philanthropic contributions within the larger community. The nominee’s generosity and leadership should motivate and engage others.

Outstanding Champion of Diversity

This award recognizes an individual, family, or group who has demonstrated leadership and promoted diversity in philanthropic activities that create community impact and engagement. A Diversity Champion lifts the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ principles of IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Access). The nominee is committed to philanthropic activities that reflect, are responsive to, and embrace the diversity of the Triad region, respecting and valuing all people. A Diversity Champion is a connector who bridges communities and creates a space where everyone’s gifts are appreciated, and voices are heard.

Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser

This award honors an individual, family, or group who demonstrates outstanding leadership and skills in coordinating and motivating groups of donors and volunteers for fundraising projects in our community, making a measurable impact on community philanthropy.

Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy  
This award recognizes an individual (under the age 21) or youth organization where a majority of members and/or leaders are under the age 21 and whose philanthropic efforts (through fundraising and direct financial support, development of charitable programs, volunteering, and/or community leadership) demonstrate the spirit of philanthropy and set an example for others to follow. The nominee demonstrates an outstanding commitment to community service. 

Outstanding Fundraising Professional  

This award honors an outstanding individual fundraising professional and AFP member whose leadership exemplifies ethical and effective professional practice and whose performance enhances the philanthropic resources of the organization for which he or she serves. Nominees demonstrate strong commitment to philanthropy, volunteerism, and continuing education, and have actively worked as a professional fundraiser for at least 10 years prior to nomination. 

Outstanding Philanthropists in Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and High Point areas

This award honors an individual or family for exceptional generosity and civic responsibility by demonstrating significant philanthropic contributions. The recipient’s generosity, leadership, and impact should motivate and engage others.

Lifetime Achievement in Philanthropy
If you are interested in nominating someone for this award, please complete the appropriate Outstanding Philanthropist nomination form listed above, supplementing the nomination with information on the lifetime of exemplary service to our community. This award honors an individual or family for exceptional generosity and civic responsibility by demonstrating significant philanthropic contributions within the larger community. The nominee’s generosity and leadership should motivate and engage others. The selection for this award is based upon nominations received in the three Outstanding Philanthropist categories.
