JULY 2021

Each month, I have opportunities to learn and engage with my colleagues from other non-profits in my local area. Monthly meetings provide time to network and learn—either learn something new or actively engage with some of the ideals of the fundraising profession. Through AFP, I’ve been introduced to some of the most talented fundraisers in the business who are willing and eager to mentor and challenge their colleagues to be the best fundraisers we can be."

Lucia's fun fact: " I have two of the cutest and sweetest dogs on the planet, Jacques and Oliver."

My background has been in informal fundraising as a pastor.  AFP has been a tremendous resource in learning the craft of fundraising. The monthly meetings are always informative and innovative. The networking aspect of AFP is what has been most valuable to me. The opportunity to meet with others in the field, learn from them, and also the ability to collaborate on issues that are important to us all, makes this one of the most consequential groups I have been a member of.

I'm so proud to be a member of AFP! Membership has offered me the opportunity to build many wonderful relationships with other fundraising professionals in the community and further to develop my skills and talents through professional development programs.

Continuous improvement and relationship building are key to enhancing a person’s career path and knowledge. Some years ago, I was a member of AFP, and I found it to be a meaningful organization to have a ‘GO TO’ team to ask questions or bounce ideas off.

Continuous improvement is a model that expands your mind while examining how, what or when you can make changes to improve your personal profession or celebrate what you have accomplished. I am a cheerleader for Victoria, a member of the great team at ESR, an AFP member, and an AFP Board member.

"Being a member of AFP is important because it offers opportunities to hear and learn from colleagues at all levels in the profession. The membership also provides impactful discussions through professional development sessions and chapter meetings. Lastly, mentoring programs and leadership development opportunities have been beneficial to my staff as they work to grow beyond just specific skill-building."

A fun fact about LaDaniel– He dived off a cliff at Rick’s Café in Jamaica!
