Shifting the Paradigm Landscape: Increasing Engagement and Philanthropy Among Alumni of Color
Monthly Meeting (Noon to 1:30 pm)
and Extended Deep-Dive Workshop (1:45 to 4:30 pm)
- The Extended Deep Dive session is FREE to NC Triad AFP Members with advance registration required.
- One guest may attend at the discounted rate of $15 along with their Chapter Member!
- Other visitors may attend at a cost of $30 each, separate from the fee for the lunch meeting.
- Deep Dive Workshop attendees are strongly encouraged to attend the monthly meeting session as it serves as the presenter’s introduction to the topic.
Given the current pressing social challenges, this effort has never been more important. This presentation will allow participants to assess their organization’s diverse constituency landscape and think about ways to introduce a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) action plan into their current fundraising initiatives.
The second half of the session is designed for participants to work in small groups to analyze a case study and consider ways that they may be able to introduce DEI strategies that align with their fundraising plans and priorities into their organizations. Participants will leave with some tangible ideas they can use to improve their individual donor engagement and the operations within their organization.
Upon completion, participants will be able to: (1) adapt traditional fundraising cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship methods to help build relationships within communities of color; (2) suggest ideas that may influence the way their organizations integrate diversity, equity and inclusion into their operations; (3) assess their organization’s diverse constituent landscape - who are they, where are they, which events do they attend, where do they give; and (4) examine current and emerging trends influencing fundraising in communities of color and develop strategies to adapt to the current climate.
