The value of good manners and simple kindness are getting overlooked, and are so powerful! How you relate to donors has a direct impact on their inclination to give. Good manners such as "please" (donor cultivation) and "thank you" (stewardship) can make or break a development program, and are even more critical in major campaigns. This session digs into active listening, verbal and nonverbal skills, and specific language that makes a difference. We’ll also discuss the importance of the broader understanding that “what you say matters” when talking with donors, among the full staff team and board leadership as well. Learn how to tell your own story in an inviting and enthusiastic way, and then transition into campaign or other pertinent talking points using examples and exercises.
