The Assistant Director of Gift Services is a member of the Gift Services team and part of the University Development Office Business and Operations group. At Carolina, Gift Services supports the fundraising efforts for all schools, units, and departments across campus.
The Assistant Director supervises a team of five revenue specialists and oversees several key areas in Gift Services, including the day-to-day operations of revenue processing, standard setting, establishing accountability mechanisms, reporting and forecasting, providing advice and consultation to the University’s senior development and administrative staff, and works with our campus partners across campus to ensure our donors’ gifts are processed with accuracy and gratitude. Primary duties include oversight of pledge/commitment administration, the reminder processes, gift receipting, departmental documents, and large batch review/committal process. This position also monitors and implements PCI- Compliance trainings and reviews with development staff. The Assistant Director oversees and manages inquiries from customers, including development colleagues and donors, related to gift designations, receipting, gift-making instructions, giving histories, recognition programs, tributes, etc. This position serves as a key liaison to development officers and staff within the schools and units throughout UNC Chapel Hill, providing advice and consultation. The individual in this position will need to effectively and correctly research and answer customer questions as well as manage the gift process in accordance with the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Reporting Standards and Management Guidelines as well as Internal Revenue Service rules and regulations on charitable contributions.
