National Philanthropy Day, November 23, 2020 at Grandover Resort
Each Year, AFP Triad Chapter recognizes individuals, businesses and organizations from across the Triad for their philanthropic contributions which “Change the Triad with a Giving Heart.” Nominations are accepted each year for in eight categories. For a description of each award, see below.
Sponsorship and Table Host opportunities are available for the event. As an official sponsor, you have the opportunity to recognize a special individual or couple from your organization as a “Spirit of Philanthropy” Table Honoree. Honorees will be recognized in the program and collectively during the event. Become a Sponsor online or download the Sponsorship packet here and mail in your sponsorship request.
National Philanthropy Day Awards
Thank you for your interest in submitting a nomination for the Triad’s National Philanthropy Day Awards! The award categories and criteria are listed below. We look forward to honoring the giving spirit of our Award recipients on Monday, November 23, 2020. The nomination deadline is June 30, 2020. Award selections will be announced in August.
We encourage non-profit organizations to partner in developing nominations. We recommend that you complete a draft of your nomination in a Word document and copy and paste into the nomination forms. Supplemental information (letters of support, photos, etc.) may be submitted as part of this nomination. Please note that nominators will be asked to assist the National Philanthropy Day Committee in gathering additional information (quotes, interviews, photos, etc.) about Award recipients to be used during the Award presentation.

Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser
This award honors an individual or family who demonstrates outstanding leadership and skills in coordinating and motivating groups of donors and volunteers for fundraising projects in our community, making a measurable impact on community philanthropy. MAKE A NOMINATION
Outstanding Fundraising Professional
This award honors an outstanding individual fundraising professional whose leadership exemplifies ethical and effective professional practice and whose performance enhances the philanthropic resources of the organization for which he or she serves. Nominees demonstrate a strong commitment to philanthropy, volunteerism, and continuing education, and have actively worked as a professional fundraiser for at least 10 years prior to nomination. Preference will be given to nominees who are current members of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. MAKE A NOMINATION
Outstanding Business in Philanthropy
This award honors a business — regardless of size — that demonstrates outstanding community commitment through philanthropic support and the encouragement and motivation of others, both inside and outside of the corporation, to take leadership roles in philanthropic and community involvement. Please note: businesses with corporate-funded foundations must apply through the Outstanding Philanthropic Organization nomination process. MAKE A NOMINATION
Outstanding Philanthropic Organization
This award honors a civic organization, corporate or private foundation, grant-making service organization, donor circle, or affinity group that demonstrates an outstanding philanthropic commitment to the nonprofit organization(s) or larger community it supports. This organization should be a role model of philanthropic activity serving many segments of the community. MAKE A NOMINATION
Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy
This award recognizes an individual (under the age 21) or youth organization where a majority of members and/or leaders are under the age 21 and whose philanthropic efforts (through fundraising and direct financial support, development of charitable programs, volunteering, and/or community leadership) demonstrate the spirit of philanthropy and set an example for others to follow. The nominee demonstrates an outstanding commitment to community service. MAKE A NOMINATION
Outstanding Emerging Philanthropist
This award recognizes an individual (age 22-40) or organization where a majority of members and/or leaders are between ages of 22 and 40, for exceptional generosity and civic responsibility by demonstrating significant philanthropic contributions within the larger community. The nominee’s generosity and leadership should motivate and engage others. MAKE A NOMINATION
Outstanding Philanthropists in Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and High Point areas
These awards honor individuals or families for exceptional generosity and civic responsibility
by demonstrating significant philanthropic contributions within our Triad communities. The nominees’ generosity and leadership should motivate and engage others. Outstanding Philanthropists will be selected from the Greensboro area, Winston-Salem area, and High Point areas. MAKE A NOMINATION
Lifetime Achievement in Philanthropy
If you are interested in nominating someone for this award, please complete the appropriate Outstanding Philanthropist nomination form listed above, supplementing the nomination with information on the lifetime of exemplary service to our community. This award honors an individual or family for exceptional generosity and civic responsibility by demonstrating significant philanthropic contributions within the larger community. The nominee’s generosity and leadership should motivate and engage others. The selection for this award is based upon nominations received in the three Outstanding Philanthropist categories.
